Founded in 1965, the Department of Surgery is heavily involved with continuing education for surgeons and physicians, both nationally and internationally. We play a major role in teaching throughout all four years of UC San Diego School of Medicine curriculum. We have five highly distinguished ACGME residency programs, seven fellowship programs, and research programs across numerous surgical specialties.
