About Memory Loss

Aging can be a time of personal growth and positive change, as well as multiple challenges. Changes in memory and thinking abilities are common, and can result from many factors, including:

  • Getting older
  • Medical illnesses
  • Prescription medicines
  • Depression or anxiety
  • Alcohol overuse
  • Stroke
  • Alzheimer's disease

We believe that detecting any problems, and correcting their causes if possible, may help to restore memory functions.

Our Goals

SOCARE provides high-quality, cost-effective care for the senior patient and encourages independence and social activity. Our multidisciplinary team of geriatric specialists identify current and potential health problems and make realistic recommendations for treatment and care.

Our goals are:

  • To ensure better health and quality of life in later years
  • To provide ready access for brief testing of memory and thinking abilities in older adults who are referred by their primary physicians. People who have significant problems can then undergo more detailed evaluation through a diagnostic procedure.
  • To continue to provide second opinions on the diagnosis and treatment of dementia, working with primary physicians and community resources to develop an overall care plan that best meets the needs of the patient and his or her family
