Pharmacy Services at UCSD

The Department of Pharmacy offers a variety of services in the inpatient and outpatient settings.

Inpatient Clinical Pharmacy Services

Medical Center, Hillcrest - Decentralized clinical pharmacists are available from 7 am to 11 pm to provide clinical services and to process orders for patients in all inpatient care areas and may be reached by digital pager. Services after 11 pm are provided from the central inpatient pharmacy.

Thornton Hospital, La Jolla - Decentralized clinical pharmacists are available from 6 am to 4:30 pm. Services after 4:30 pm are provided from the inpatient satellite pharmacy.

Centralized Pharmacy Services and Parenteral Admixtures

Inpatient pharmacies at the Hillcrest and Thornton locations are staffed 24-hours daily. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians prepare, compound, repackage and dispense enteral unit dosage forms and sterile parenteral products.

Pharmacy Home Infusion Service (PHIS)

PHIS provides parenteral therapies for UCSD home patients and also compounding services for UCSD hospitals and clinics.
