Sedation/Anesthesia
UCSD's MRI Institute facilities offer the latest in fast scanning and patient comfort techniques to reduce or eliminate claustrophobia and patient discomfort. However, sedation or pain medication is still sometimes required to complete exams.
Both Hillcrest and Thornton MRI facilities can provide sedatives or pain medications. Please consult with your physician prior to your appointment for an appropriate prescription.
Due to the affiliation with Rady Children's Hospital, any child requiring an MRI with anesthesia assistance will be referred to the Rady Children's Hospital MRI Center.
