SUBJECT: New Mission and Vision Statements
UC San Diego Health System has new mission and vision statements to help define and further shape the Health System’s strategies, goals, and actions as it becomes a successful, simplified and sustainable organization.
The mission statement defines what we are, why we exist and our purpose. The vision statement is our inspiration, as well as the framework for our strategic planning.
I am pleased to share the new UC San Diego Health System mission statement and vision statement:
Mission
To deliver outstanding patient care through commitment to the community, groundbreaking research and inspired teaching.
Vision
To create a healthier world – one life at a time – through new science, new medicine and new cures.
I thank all of you for participating in the refresh process. More than 100 Health System leaders participated in six focus group discussions. These focus groups helped craft an all-inclusive survey designed to guide our efforts in refreshing the UC San Diego Health System vision and mission statements.
The response was incredible. We received 953 surveys and 254 essay responses. I am proud of the Health System team for embracing the process of defining our mission and vision for the future.
As affirmed in the mission and vision statements, the Health System’s devotion to quality is unparalleled. We are dedicated to providing demonstrably superior clinical care, as well as safe care, within the structure of outstanding patient- and family-centered care.
Warmest regards,
Paul
