Welcome to Project Helix 

UC San Diego Health System is the only academic health system in the San Diego region and is committed to fulfilling its mission of clinical care, research and education. Although these three areas are intrinsically linked, it is the clinical mission that truly drives the success of our academic health system.

Because today’s health care landscape is rapidly evolving and filled with both challenges and opportunities, we have embarked upon a new change management initiative called Project Helix to ensure that we can support our tripartite mission for many generations to come.

Project Helix is composed of four key components: Health System Strategic Plan, Operational Excellence Council (OEC), Philanthropy, and Organizational Alignment and Development. Please click on the corresponding section to the right to learn more about each of these efforts.

Our goal is to become a more simplified, successful and sustainable organization, so that we can continue to take exceptional care of people by providing high quality and patient-centered care, advancing medical discoveries through our translational research, and educating the health care professionals of tomorrow.
