At UC San Diego Health System, we believe in the Power of Excellence. We strive for excellence in all we do, because we know we are making a difference in the lives of our patients. Below are some of the compliments our physicians and staff have received recently from our patients.

I just wanted to give a shout out for the excellent treatment I receive every time I have an appointment with Dr. Keays. She has an awesome attitude and is extremely helpful. I have never felt like she was rushing to get to her next patient, taking the time to answer all of my questions and making sure I understood the answers. When I had to get a procedure done, she was very calming and encouraging. If I could give her more than 5 stars, I would.
This man is the most compassionate, and caring person I have ever met. He goes way above and beyond what I expect of anyone, let alone a doctor. He makes me feel he has all the time in the world for me, and never makes me feel I am putting him out at all. He even gave me his cell number if I needed him, and he actually answers, or returns my calls promptly. HE IS THE BEST.
I have had anxiety when undergoing an MRI in the past. I expressed this to Francisco and Peggy. They both made my experience much, much better. They took their time and this allowed me to relax and breathe between images. I am no longer hesitant or anxious about getting this test in the future. Thank you.
“My sister is having PTE surgery today 4/29/2011. Being from Georgia (Woodstock), I thought I knew how to treat everyone with love and respect! But, everyone at this Hospital has gone above and beyond in making us feel at home. We have not met a stranger. Everyone makes us feel as family. Everyone gets a pat on the back for being so nice.
Special note of thanks to Ambassador Steve.
Thank you so much."

“There were very many caring people who took care of my husband – we remember John, Leo, James, Jean, Anna, Anne, Leslie and Maria. There were others, --especially Gretchen. My husband was in terrible pain when he came in and with everyone trying to comfort and help him, he’s doing much better and will be able to have surgery next week. When he came in I did not think he would last the night. Christina, who gave me this form when I told her how well everyone was treating my husband, is a really great member of your staff. I will always recommend UC San Diego Medical Center if someone I know needs to be in a hospital."

“I was very appreciative of the recent assistance I received from Cindy and Jacqueline in Family Medicine, La Jolla. I was having trouble renewing a prescription through my insurance. At the time I called Family Medicine, I was driving in New Mexico, due to arrive back home only two days before my medicine would run out. Cindy must have heard the concern in my voice, because shortly after we spoke, Jacqueline called back to say that she had straightened out everything with the insurance company and that I would be able to refill my prescription when I got home. Thanks to Cindy and Jacqueline, I was able to fully enjoy the rest of my vacation. Thank you both!”
“I want to thank the wonderful staff for everything they did to help me get better. I felt they really cared about me and their job, something that is hard to find today. Thanks to the wonderful doctors I had, I am living a much happier life.
Thank you again.”
“The care I received from physicians, nurses and support staff was outstanding. Everyone was attentive to my needs, informative and responsive. The 2 – 3 day period after the surgery was more personally challenging than I imagined…. The nursing staff was especially helpful in getting me through these events. Much appreciation.”
Lindsey was not only knowledgeable but encouraged me to keep breast feeding. She was comforting and naturally comfortable with breast feeding and babies which helped me relax. She was so sweet to my newborn son. Because of her influence, I have stuck with nursing my son and have loved every moment. My overall experience with the staff in labor and delivery was very positive. Everyone was attentive, helpful and generally seemed concerned with my son and my well-being. Thank you UCSD!
My mother was admitted on February 6th with a mystery illness which was finally diagnosed as Viral Meningitis by your diligent staff so she was admitted to the regular hospital for care. Every person who cared for her - from the custodial staff to the chief of departments were caring, professional, respectful and made me and my parents feel as if we were their only patient! I was so impressed by the level of care, the respect shown for my elderly parents, the fact that they cared for her even after she had been passed to another department. I feel like everyone we came into contact with wanted to help and answer questions (a huge contrast with our experience at other hospitals!) You are to be commended for having a corporate culture that encourages a focus on individuals and their care! Thank you again and if I ever need emergency care I hope it happens near your hospital!

Dr. Sawhney has save my life two times. His exceptional skills and understanding care are so appreciated.Thank you UCSD for providing such great medical services. The Cathlab personnel and the CCU was greatly appreciated.
From the bottom of my heart, I am very thankful to all four of these nurses (Erica, Tammy, Rachelle, MaryAnne) for making me feel at ease and comfortable through a very difficult and scary moment in my life after suffering a heart attack. They represented your hospital in the most professional and most caring manner. They treated me and made me feel like a king. I can't thank them enough. and of course, I definitely can't thank Dr. E. Mahmud enough for saving my life. Thank You All!! and to everyone who helped in the emergency room and everyone who I had contact with during my stay at your hospital. Every single person involved I thank you all.
Dr. Valderama was very patient and helpful. He took time and effort to help me understand my medical condition and what I needed to do to get better and also what to look our for that might be problematic. He did not mind repeating himself until I fully comprehended what he was saying. Such patience is rare, especially in a man as busy as is a doctor, but Dr. Valderama did what he had to to ensure that I left the hospital best prepared for the future. Thank you so much, Doctor!
