Immediate family members are welcome to visit patients at the Regional Burn Center.
Visiting Hours: In the Burn Intensive Care Unit, visiting hours are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. In special circumstances immediate family will be allowed to visit their loved one at other times. Please see the nurse in charge to arrange for this visitation and to arrange for any visitors who are under the age of 12.
Patients admitted to the Burn Special Care Unit may be visited between the hours of 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. Visitors are asked to be respectful of all patients. Children under the age of 12 must be supervised at all times by an adult. Patient well-being and available space may limit the number of visitors at the patient’s bedside to two.
Phone Calls: Federal Law prevents us from giving patient information without the patient/guardian’s consent. With the consent of the patient/guardian, family and friends may call at any time to check about the patient’s condition. However, frequent calls are disruptive to the unit and hinder the nurses from spending time with their patients. Patients who have large families are requested to designate a spokesperson for the family to provide information to family and friends. As the patient’s condition progresses, the patient may telephone from the room to any number in the 619 area code. Phones are located near the bed in all rooms.
Please refrain from using cell phones in patient care areas. Phones may be used in the waiting area by the fish tank on the 5th floor. These regulations are due to the potential interference the cell phone may cause to important electronic systems that are being used for our patients. Thank you in advance for your help in this area.
