Patty Maysent, MPH, MBA
Chief Strategy Officer, UC San Diego Health System
Patty Maysent is the chief strategy officer for UC San Diego Health System and joined the senior leadership team in June 2012 as administrative chief of staff, as well as interim chief strategy officer. Ms. Maysent brings more than 25 years of executive experience in hospital and health services management to this position.
She is responsible for coordinating several components of UC San Diego Health System’s initiative, Project Helix, including the strategic plan update and project management office – the Operational Excellence Council – which focuses on achieving significant financial change by creating a culture of operational accountability, excellence and efficiency. Ms. Maysent also manages the development of the clinical program councils and related specific clinical program strategic plans. She is responsible for managing strategic relationships with Rady Children’s Hospital and Scripps Health. In addition, she serves as a member of UC San Diego Health System’s Executive Management Team and Executive Committee.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health System, Ms. Maysent worked as a consultant for 10 years at Alliance Healthcare Services, a leading provider of advanced outpatient diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology services. During her tenure with Alliance, she oversaw the development of strategic plans for the imaging and oncology divisions, and served as interim president of Alliance Oncology.
She previously worked as a consultant at University of Southern California’s Keck Medical Center where she facilitated the development of the strategic plan for the hospital and Norris Cancer Center. Between 1987 and 1995, Ms. Maysent worked in various executive positions for St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, California including vice president, business development and chief operating officer. From 1992 to 1995, she served as president and chief executive officer of St. Jude Medical Center, a member of the St. Joseph Health System. During that time, she negotiated and built the St. Jude Medical Practice Foundation which was a novel physician integration concept at the time.
Ms. Maysent holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Biology from Stanford University, and her master’s degree in business administration, as well as public health, from the University of California, Los Angeles. She serves on the board and executive committee of the Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito. When not at work, she is an avid swimmer, paddler and surfer.
